Richardson-Plano Alumnae Association

Happy New Year! Hope all of you had a fantastic holiday with family and friends.  Richardson-Plano had a busy, fun 2019.  We are looking forward to a busy, fun 2020.  Hope you can join us!

This past fall we had a wonderful Welcome Back luncheon.  We enjoyed Richardson-Plano Kappa Pam Barbera’s presentation on Jefferson, Texas.  We are looking forward to our association trip to Jefferson in April and visiting some of the places Pam spoke to us about.  In October, we always are thrilled to celebrate Founders Day.  Honoring our milestone Kappas is always a highlight.  In November, R/P Kappas enjoyed volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank.  Our group successfully packed 264 food boxes!  We appreciate Judi Hamby and Judy Ducate, our Philanthropy chairs, for organizing this worthwhile event.   Of course, our annual December Ornament Exchange/luncheon is always a hit with R/P Kappas.  We enjoyed a great lunch, but most importantly we all left with a great holiday item! January kicked off with our “Bring Your Favorite Gal” event.  It was fun to visit with Richardson-Plano members’ friends and daughters.  Enjoyed meeting some of our “little” legacies!

We appreciate Caroline Morgan, Jayne Davenport, Kathleen Ray and Sue Sydow for opening their homes and serving as hostesses for our fall and winter meetings.

Mark your calendars and watch for evites for several upcoming events.  On February 18, at 11AM will be our event at Texas Wine and Wood (2949 W. 15th Street, Plano 75075.  This is our “Kappas Being Kreative” event!  Our Reading is Key event will take place in April at Plano Head Start.  Information about days and time will be communicated as the dates get closer. Looking forward to lots of R/P Kappas participating in this event that benefits kids in our community.  We will wrap up the year in May with our Fleur de lis Luncheon and Officer Installation.  This event will be held at Rockfish at Coit/Campbell.

On an exciting note and one that should be celebrated is the fact that Richardson-Plano has a cumulative giving total to the Kappa Foundation of $82,329.75.  Truly Amazing! Our generosity has funded educational programs, Rose McGill Grants and scholarships.  Our giving has supported collegians and alumnae!

If you didn’t get a chance to join us in the Fall, please plan to join us this winter and spring!  This fun, welcoming group is always looking for more fun Kappas to join them every month!
